Metro Report 2nd Quarter 2025

Metro Kids Africa (MKA) has turned 20 this year! In April 2005, the very first Sidewalk after-school programme was held in Gugulethu, a township in Cape Town, South Africa.

In November last year, our team in Cape Town were greatly saddened by the passing of Vuyo, a much-loved staff member. Vuyo, who was only 31, had a short illness and passed away unexpectedly on November 20th.

For this Christmas Newsletter we want to focus on MKA in Uganda.
We started our programmes in Uganda in 2014, after James and I were invited to visit Africa with Love school by George and Rosemary Willard. In Uganda, the majority of schools are private and rely on parents paying school fees.

James and I have recently had a trip to the USA to meet with staff at Metro World Child (MWC) in New York and connect with people who support Metro Kids Africa (MKA) in Georgia. This was our first trip to the USA in several years and it was a time of real encouragement for us.
2024 – A brand new year at Metro!

We wish you all a blessed year. Metro Kids Africa (MKA) has started the year well with James and Janet joining the South African team in January and part of February. It is encouraging for all of us to be together as we prepare for the year ahead.
